work together

during the top management meeting, my boss state… “1.30pm – 2.30pm is the only halal time to run your personal tasks”… those words really hit me hard because i usually take my leisure time to return back to the office after fetching my daughter from school. usually i will bring my daughter back home for her to take her bath, pray and have lunch before sending her to the day care center. she will take her own sweet time to do all the above. and usually i will be back at the office by 2.45-3.00pm. so, i can’t do that anymore.

after fetching my daughter today, i have explained to her on my condition while driving back home. she seems confused and reluctant to rush herself within the short period. finding ways on how to explain to her… finally i used the phrase of “working together”. i told her, “if you still want to bathe, pray and have lunch at home… you have to work together with me by managing your time well… we need to be out from home by 2.15pm to sending you off to the day care. if you can’t work together with me, then i’m sorry… i will need to send you to the day care straight from school.” (which she doesn’t like that idea).

as for today, i manage to come back to my office on time. really do hope could do the same in the future…

yesterday was a very hectic day for me. i had a meeting with delegates from UK one whole day. at noon i excused myself to fetch my daughter from school. my daughter was upset because someone pushed her and she felt at the school staircase. no cuts… only bruises… so… she requested for me to send her back home. i refused as no one to take care of her and further more i need to rush back to the office to resume my meeting. she cried…

finally she said… “why must you have classes?”… i replied, “mama is having a meeting… i do not have any class today”… then she said… “why must you have meetings?”… i paused… surely she do not understand what’s going on… finally i explained to her my nature of work and why must i work, where does all my salary goes… and her father’s salary goes… after the long explanation, she asked, “why must we pay for our house? that is our house… why must we pay for it?”

“the reality of life”… which our kids still do not understand and the reason they take things for granted… since they have asked that kind of questions… i think it’s time to rationalize to them and make them understand the purpose of living and how to keep it up…

my first quilled design

my daughter is down with chicken pox this week and i’m on leave to take care of her. to make myself and my daughter occupied, we learnt how to make quill design online…easy and fascinating… after hours of thinking what type of cards or bookmark could i make, finally my eyes caught a plain picture frame on my living room shelf…

finally, during my relaxation time at night, i cut strips of paper and roll them patiently… even my daughter helped me to roll the papers.we had wonderful time talking and communicating…

actually, i used to do things in a hurry… but by doing art work, it really helps to calm me down and enjoy the moment of creativity… walla… here’s another of my amateur master piece…

satisfying…

quality time

i was taking my breakfast this morning while watching a morning show from local tv station. they were discussing about family matters. the interesting part which the panel mentioned was about spending quality time with your family especially your kids.

he said… “3 hours watching movies together at home with your family is Not spending quality time… compare to switching off all media device (tv, radio, computer games, psp, hand phone ect) for 1/2 an hour and Talk to each other… That Is Spending Quality Time with your family…”

the key is Communication. talk to your spouse… talk to your kids… communicate… this is what we are lacking of living in this hassle and busy world. get back to the basics… maybe that’s one of the reason kids today easily get into trouble. parents are lack of communicating with their kids. Not to blame totally on parents on their busy times… parents are trying to make a living… but parents… please watch “life is like a cup of coffee” which i published in this blog. it will get you to Think…

Spend Quality Time with your family… Not Quantity…

Talk… Communicate… Discuss…
