PKSR2 results

since my daughter could not attend school from chicken pox, i text a message to her teacher to find out her PKSR2 result (do not want to trouble her if she’s in class). i was so nervous and anxious. in a few moments, she replied… 3a5b no 5. i was so grateful she has improved her results from 1a6b1c to 3a5b. maybe you think it’s not big but there’s improvement.  a big one for me.

what i learnt from this is… you could not compare how you were raised by your parents and make the same steps for your kids. it was totally in different environment all together. i remembered that my parents were not that actively involve in my education wise and i turned out to be fine. i have my masters degree and have a decent job. but, it’s totally different case for my daughter. i have to actively involve in her school and personal life.

other than that, if you are a working mother, it kinda hard to really spend times with your kids and really focus in her school work. i can only do that during weekends with lots of online and offline exercises. on the weekdays, i need to send her to a day care center after school until i finish working. my mistake last year was putting her into a day care that was not really into education development. i changed it recently, and surely it works. thank you to all the school teachers and day care teachers. they have provided the formal education to my kids. now, my task in to enhance my kids talent… with other activities that they love and enjoy.

i noticed that my daughter is really into art. she’s so passion about it. it’s one of the reason myself is also involve in this art and craft thing. it really makes me calm and satisfy to see how it turns up. now, i have a project to carry out. i wish to make few thank you cards… together with my daughter… of course! for all the teachers that have helped my daughter in improving her grades.

worry… :(

exam week!!

so far… my daughter is having problem with Bahasa Malaysia subject apart from Bahasa Arab. She tends to get very sleepy and passive when it’s time to read… or even doing the exercises. really worry about her. have done lots of reading over the net in finding solutions techniques to teach language… but still could not find that suites her.

well… have to keep on putting more efforts.

it really helps!

from my previous post on my kid’s problem with mathematics… i made a module for her specifically on how to differentiate the value of the number, is it more or less and on arrange the number ascending and descending order.

i took a piece of A3 paper and cut it into approximately 3 x 1.5 inches.  then i wrote random numbers using marker which involves hundreds, tens and ones. also i wrote “less” and “more” in 2 individual paper.

then, i played the game with my daughter. i put down 2 pieces of paper with the random number and i asked my daughter to put the “less” or “more” sign in between. amazingly… she got all questions correct.

then, i gave her series of numbers and asked her to arrange it in ascending and descending orders. again… she could do it.

so.. moral of the story is… not all kids have the same ability to study… we as parents need to be very creative in assist our kids. have it a try… all the best!

it has been a very long time since my last post. wondering what happened to me? A LOT! well… it’s nothing to share on my working responsibilities.

yesterday, i have been pressured by my mom. since she’s very far away from me, she’s very concern on her first grand daughter’s education. parents mana tak nak anak pandai right? my mom has pushed me on finding tuition class for my daughter… tuition? for my 8-year-old? yes… a child at this age will absorb information like sponges but i too want her to enjoy learning and have her childhood. i do not want to pressure her on getting only good results in school… i too want to focus on her social development.

i have researched on my daughter’s style of learning. she’s a kinesthetic. since i have notice of that, myself and my husband has decided not to put very highly expectation on her. we want to make sure she could balance up her social skills and education. we are currently observing her to look what her interest is or are. then we will work out that from there. at the same time, i’m looking for ways on how to educate a kinesthetic child… especially developing her interest in writing and reading. it’s a struggle for me.

i’m really stuck now. what should i do? my daughter has a very hectic schedule in her daily life… morning school monday – friday. KAFA in the afternoon. i will pick her up at 6.00 pm every weekdays from her KAFA, reach home at 6.15 pm, recite Iqra’ after Maghrib prayer, doing her homework, more extra exercises from me and bedtime at 9.00 pm. every wednesday and friday night is her english class until 9.00 pm. saturdays, doing her chores (wash her school shoes and others). her only day off is on sundays. should i add tuition class in her hectic schedule… for 8-year-old child?

what’s got into the education system in Malaysia today? are we into exam oriented only? it’s unlikely at the australia or united states where they have different ways in approaching education in a child’s life.

please help me… what should i do now?  what is your opinion on this matter?

multiplication table (sifir)

today, my daughter was relieved that she knows the sifir 2 when her teacher asked her… baru tahun 2 dah kena tahu sifir 1-5… aduuuhhh…

i did my homework on how to help our children in remembering their sifir… here are some tips:

  1. teach them the sifir 0, 1, 2, 5, 10, 11 first because it’s easier to explain how those sifir works.
  2. for the rest of the sifir, need to memorize.
  3. i wrote the sifir 2, 3, 4 & 5 in different sheet of drawing paper. use different kind of color for every line and paste on the bedroom wall according to my daughter’s eye level…

really hope this will help my daughter and your kids…
